Falling Down - Iconic Sounds

We were asked to re-create the sound of an opening scene of the thriller 'Falling Down' using Garage Band, iTunes and SoundBible.com.
We had to watch the original opening scene and write down what sound it was and the time every sound came in and what time they finished.
The video was then uploaded to Garage Band where the sound was taken out, and from our timing notes we had to find similar sounds download them. From this we could then plot the sound effects onto the timeline and match them to the exact time that the sound comes in up to 2:30.

I personally think that the sound effects were near enough to the original and still creates a mysterious atmosphere.

Se7en Title Sequence Remake

Se7en Title Sequence:

We were asked to re-create the Se7en title sequence using the clips, pictures and music we were provided with.
To create this edit I used Final Cut Pro, and through a list of pictures, trailer clips, timing and effects I eventually created a successful title sequence for a thriller as it gives a small story to the movie with dark, gloomy effects and music creating a mysterious atmosphere with flashing images.

My note taking in class, experience with a camera, watching films and reading reviews has given me a high understanding of a thriller.
  • What was the activity that stood out that helped you remember (watching student work, making the se7en edit, studying own film examples, or the mind map)?
